بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Inna arsalna nuḥan ila qawmihi an andhir qawmaka min qabli an ya'tiyahum ‘adhabun alim

“Indeed, We sent Nuh to his people, [saying], “Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.””

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

Qala ya qawmi inni lakum nadhirun mubin

“He said, “O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner.””

أَنِ اعْبُدُواْ اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Ani ‘budu llaha wa-ttaquhu wa-aṭi‘un

“That you should worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me.”

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Yaghfir lakum min dhunubikum wa-yu'akhkhirkum ila ajalin musamma inna ajala llahi idha ja'a la yu'akhkharu law kuntum ta‘lamun

“He will forgive your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the term of Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.”

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا

Qala rabbi inni da‘awtu qawmi laylan wa-nahara

“He said, “My Lord, indeed I invited my people night and day.””

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا

Fa-lam yazid-hum du'a'i illa firara

“But my invitation increased them not except in flight [from truth].”

وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ اسْتِكْبَارًا

Wa-inni kullama da‘awtuhum li-taghfira lahum ja‘alu aṣabi‘ahum fi adhanihim wa-staghshaw thiyabahum wa-aṣarru wa-stakbaru stikbara

“And indeed, every time I invited them that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with great arrogance.”

ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا

Thumma inni da‘awtuhum jihara

“Then I invited them publicly.”

ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا

Thumma inni a‘lantu lahum wa-asrartu lahum israra

“Then I announced to them and also confided to them secretly.”

١٠

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا

Fa-qultu staghfiru rabbakum innahu kana ghaffara

“And said, “Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.””

١١

يُرْسِلِ السَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا

Yursili s-sama'a ‘alaykum midrara

“He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in continuing showers.”

١٢

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًا

Wa-yumdidkum bi-amwalin wa-banina wa-yaj‘al lakum jannatin wa-yaj‘al lakum anhara

“And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.”

١٣

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا

Ma lakum la tarjuna lillahi waqara

“What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah due grandeur?”

١٤

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا

Wa-qad khalaqakum aṭwara

“While He has created you in stages?”

١٥

أَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا

A-lam taraw kayfa khalaqa llahu sab‘a samawatin ṭibaqa

“Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers?”

١٦

وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا

Wa-ja‘ala l-qamara fihinna nuran wa-ja‘ala sh-shamsa siraja

“And made the moon therein a light and made the sun a burning lamp.”

١٧

وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا

Wa-llahu anbatakum mina l-arḍi nabata

“And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.”

١٨

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا

Thumma yu‘idukum fiha wa-yukhrijukum ikhraja

“Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.”

١٩

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا

Wa-llahu ja‘ala lakumu l-arḍa bisaṭa

“And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse.”

٢٠

لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا

Li-taslulu minha subulan fijaja

“That you may follow therein roads of passage.”

٢١

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

Qala Nuḥun rabbi innahum ‘aṣawni wa-ttaba‘u man lam yazidhu maluhu wa-waladuhu illa khasara

“Nuh said, “My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children only increase him in loss.””

٢٢

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا

Wa-makaru makran kubbara

“And they conspired an immense conspiracy.”

٢٣

وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا

Wa-qalu la tadharunna alihatakum wa-la tadharunna Waddan wa-la Suwa‘an wa-la Yaghutha wa-Ya‘uqa wa-Nasra

“And said, “Do not leave your gods, and do not leave Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, or Nasr.””

٢٤

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرًاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًا

Wa-qad aḍallu kathiran wa-la tazidi ẓ-ẓalimina illa ḍalala

“And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error.”

٢٥

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا

Mimma khaṭi'atihim ughriqu fa-udkhilu naran fa-lam yajidu lahum min duni llahi anṣara

“Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and found not for themselves besides Allah any helpers.”

٢٦

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا

Wa-qala Nuḥun rabbi la tadhar ‘ala l-arḍi mina l-kafirina dayyara

“And Nuh said, “My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.””

٢٧

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا

Innaka in tadharhum yuḍillu ‘ibadaka wa-la yalidu illa fajiran kaffara

“Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except a wicked disbeliever.”

٢٨

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَا

Rabbi ghfir li wa-li-walidayya wa-li-man dakhala bayti mu'minan wa-li-l-mu'minina wa-l-mu'minati wa-la tazidi ẓ-ẓalimina illa tabara

“My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer, and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction.”
