Surah Al-Fatiha
Short Summary
Surah Al-Fatiha is the opening chapter of the Qur’an, comprising 7 verses. It praises Allah, acknowledges His mercy and sovereignty, seeks His guidance to the straight path, and asks to be protected from misguidance. Recited in every unit of Salah, it serves as a concise prayer and guide for all believers.
Asbabun Nuzul (Reason for Revelation)
Surah Al-Fatiha was revealed in Makkah to guide Muslims in beginning their prayers with praise and remembrance of Allah. It emphasizes monotheism, dependence on Allah, and distinguishes the believers from the polytheistic practices of Quraysh at that time. This chapter instructs believers to ask for guidance on the straight path and protection from misguidance.
