The Qur’an: A Window to the Unseen and the Real

The Qur’an: A Window to the Unseen and the Real

The Qur’an: A Window to the Unseen and the Real

“O Allah, open my heart to Your guidance, grant me understanding of Your signs, and make this knowledge a source of light for my soul.”

Introduction

The Qur’an is more than a book of moral guidance. It is a living message that embraces both the visible world and realities beyond our senses. It offers a “window” through which humans can glimpse hidden truths and the divine wisdom underlying creation. This post explores how the Qur’an bridges the unseen and the real, guiding both heart and mind.

Signs in Creation

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for those of understanding.” (3:190)

“Do they not look at the sky — how We built it and adorned it and there are no gaps in it?” (Qāf / 50:6)

These verses invite us to observe the natural world as a tapestry of signs (آيات). Through reflection, we recognize divine wisdom and the interconnectedness of all creation.

The Unseen: Knowledge Belongs to Allah

“Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the Unseen except Allah; and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.” (27:65)

This verse reminds us that some realities — the unseen, the future, divine wisdom — belong solely to Allah. Human reasoning is encouraged, but ultimate knowledge of the hidden is divine.

Selected Verses Highlighting the Unseen and the Real

“And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and whatever He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, over their gathering when He wills, is competent.” (42:29)

“Do they not look into the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever Allah has created of things?” (10:101)

“And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message if you do not know.” (16:43)

“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp.” (24:35)

“And He it is who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon; each in an orbit floating.” (21:33)

Conclusion

By presenting both the seen and unseen, the Qur’an invites us to an integrated vision of existence. The universe around us becomes a mirror reflecting divine wisdom, and the unseen truths remind us of our purpose and dependence on Allah. Through reflection, observation, and faith, we can embrace this window, seeing the world with both the heart and mind.

May Allah open our hearts to understanding, make us mindful of His signs, and guide us to appreciate both the visible and hidden realities of His creation. آمين
